Main Purpose of Job

Sysco are looking for a talented and driven AV professional who is passionate towards delivering creative and high quality visitor experiences, with an enthusiasm for working as part of a team on exciting and unique projects. In this role, you will play a key part in the project delivery process, helping progress them from design concept through to tangible visitor experiences. Your ability to organise, plan and execute all associated project tasks will be vital, as well as strong communication skills in order to coordinate all associated tasks with clients, external stakeholders and the Sysco team.

The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the full delivery of a project from the point of sales handover to installation completion. The Lead Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager, offering technical support, coordinating with the client and site teams to ensure a smooth delivery. 

The Lead Engineer works under the direction of the Engineering Manager and will work collaboratively with the rest of the Operations team throughout the delivery of a project. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. To identify the technical requirements and determine deliverables and deadlines for projects.

  2. To verify that the hardware specified at tender meets the requirements and expectations of the client and re-design accordingly where applicable. 

  3. To plan, delegate and coordinate engineering tasks to engineers within the team as required. 

  4. To attend internal and external meetings during the project life cycle.  

  5. To coordinate with external contractors to ensure site services and trades can accommodate the AV system. These trades may include cabling and power contractors, structural engineers, fit-out contractors, lighting integrators, etc. 

  6. To attend site visits to evaluate site conditions, coordinate with site services and familiarise themself with the space.

  7. To support the PM and Delivery Team throughout the project delivery process, and ensure that they receive appropriate information in a timely manner.

  8. To plan, produce, delegate and coordinate the technical documents required for the delivery of a project. This includes but is not limited to cable schedules, projection geometry, show control scope, electrical loading information, rack layouts, connection schematics and as built documents.

  9. To hand over all project information and drawings to the Site Manager in preparation of the project installation and commissioning. 

  10. To monitor project delivery progress at key milestones to ensure the engineering specification has been met and fits the scope as agreed with the client.  

  11. To provide technical support, and share skills and knowledge with the rest of the engineering team whenever possible. 

  12. On occasion, to offer support to the sales, design and service departments with their technical proposals. 

Experience / Qualifications

  • Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Relevant AV installation or technical project delivery experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confidence to reach out to partners, clients and contractors  
  • Good skills in software applications, such as Microsoft Office Excel and Word

Skills / Behaviour

  • Skills in Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Up-to-date understanding of the AV marketplace - including products and trends.
  • A positive attitude and pragmatic approach to solving problems
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work well under pressure in order to meet project deadlines
